IFAT-2016 WATER CONFERENCE IN MUNICH. GERMANY

IFAT is a worldwide main innovation platform in the field of environmental technologies. For the 50 years of its existence it has spread worldwide: today environmental IFAT conferences are held outside Germany as well. That is IE expo in China, IFAT India in India, IFAT Eurasia в Турции and IFAT Environmental Technology Forum Africa in SA.

IFAT encourages the application of innovations in the fields of water supply, sewage, wastes and raw material management. The innovations presented at the IFAT conference are aimed at the encouraging of the steady usage of the available resources in order to preserve and improve the quality of life and environmental conditions.

IFAT has a special concept, which is: «Resources. Innovations. Solutions». It generalizes the range of the tendencies, covered by the conference, and its orientation. The spheres of water supply, sewage, wastes and secondary raw materials now have one common definition - «resources». The new ways of thinking of IFAT are also visually transmitted through the new illustrations.

Theme trends of the event are reflected in the IFAT logo. It represents the world of environmental technologies in the unity of three colors:

* blue represents water and sewage;

* orange means waste processing and municipal technologies;

* green is used to portray the idea of steady preservation of our resources.

Of special issue are the desalination technologies, which will play a great part in the future due to the water shortage in a number of regions in the world, that’s why the new desalination technologies and facilities are popular even today.

The event includes a rich conference program. The program of 2014 included 320 lectures and round table discussions on such topics as megalopolis, water industry, the processing of the phosphorus, contained in sewage, enclosed turnover, legislative control of wastes and energy production out of wastes.

In 2016 IFAT celebrates a great date: fiftieth anniversary of the conference. The history of this great event goes back to 1966. The first IFAT meeting was held in Munich from the 5 to 9 of September, 1966 as an International Trade Fair in the field of sewage technologies. 151 exhibitors from 10 countries and 7650 visitors from 40 countries took part in the conference. The event took place on the area of 18 000 square meters.

For the last 50 years from a small meeting IFAT became a worldwide event. In 2000-s IFAT shows great dynamics, which is another evidence of the priceless value of water resources to humanity, the necessity of its recovery, the collection and processing of wastes, and the energy production on this basis.
